  Taipei Zoo The Taipei Zoo , also known as the "Muzha Zoo," is a public zoological garden in Taipei's Wenshan District. It is Taiwan's most well-known zoological garden and a pioneer in conservation, research and education, and recreation. History The Taipei Zoo was founded in 1914 as the Maruyama Zoo (Japanese:, Hepburn: Maruyama Dbutsuen) in Mt. Maruyama (modern-day Yuanshan), on the northern outskirts of Taihoku (modern-day Taipei).
